A Letter To The Editor

You’re not saying much of anything that hasn’t crossed my mind from time to time
Saying how there’s something missing, and there’s nothing upon which you can rely
Feels like every single second out of every single minute of your life
Tips the scales the wrong direction
Beaten down at every last attempt to try.

A man once told me “Son, you only get back what your heart’s willing to give
Yeah, we only get one go ‘round;
It’s the same old tale, no matter where you live
Those smiling faces on the TV screens, flash brochures and magazines will lie to you.
You’ll find out for yourself one day, I promise you, if it’s the last thing that you do”

So, why don’t you go, just get on down the road
Find your fairy tale, your paradise, your Mecca where the streets are paved with gold..
